Silica production starts at the new plant in Tamaulipas.
Precipitated silica is a key product in demand in various industries and sectors, such as tyres, rubber, shoe soles and technical articles.
It is an extremely versatile material. It improves several tyre properties such as wear resistance, wet grip and fuel efficiency by reducing rolling resistance. It is also used as a reinforcement in rubber products and in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries because it is inert and non-toxic.
The first phase will produce 12,000 tonnes of precipitated silica per year, with plans to increase production to between 25,000 and 30,000 tonnes per year in the future.
