The new Silkimya chemical plant is located in the industrial corridor of Altamira, in southern Tamaulipas (Mexico).
The location in the Altamira industrial corridor offers significant logistical advantages and a privileged position for the efficient distribution of products to national and international markets.
It is estimated that the plant will be able to produce 12,000 tonnes of precipitated silica in a first phase and up to 25,000 to 30,000 tonnes in a second phase.
Today, total consumption of precipitated silica in Mexico is 70,000 tonnes, much of which comes from the US and China. As a result, sectors such as the wheel industry are looking forward to near-shoring the production of this product.
The plant will bring a new line of business to the region and create jobs throughout the conurbation.
There are also plans to export from this factory for marketing in America.
The Silkimya plant in Altamira is a strategic investment that will strengthen the local economy, create jobs and position Tamaulipas as a key centre in the international chemical industry.
