Footwear

Precipitated silica has long been used as a reinforcing filler in elastomers, particularly natural and synthetic rubbers. It is one of the so-called white fillers, which allow rubber compounds to be coloured, unlike the other common filler, carbon black. Among the various white fillers, precipitated silica is the only one whose reinforcing capacity can compete with carbon black in terms of improved properties.

Silkimya has a wide range of silica for this application, the REFORSIL® series, with different reinforcing effects, since the greater the reinforcement, the better the mechanical properties, but the poorer the processability of the end product, which allows the product used to be adapted to the requirements of the application.

Silica can be used in all types of rubber products, but its main application is in coloured products with good mechanical properties, such as shoe soles, rubber flooring, gaskets, belts, hoses, etc. It is particularly compatible with NBR, NR, SBR/BR and CR.

“Life is a chemical reaction, it only requires balancing.”

Reforsil®

Precipitated silica from the Reforsil® range have a wide range of applications, the most important of which is in the reinforcement of elastomers, especially synthetic rubbers. However, silica is also used in other sectors such as the food industry, both human and animal, as a technological additive with anti-caking and/or fluidising properties, as a carrier for flavourings or other additives or active liquid substances, in agriculture as a milling aid or carrier, and in other sectors as diverse as the pharmaceutical industry or the paint and varnish industry.

As the name suggests, their main role is in rubber reinforcement, but the applications of these products are very wide.
